The aim of this piece of research was to investigate whether a lower educational ambition among adolescents was associated with divorced parents in the Scandinavian region.
I chose this article because it is similar to my own research topic, while investigating a different effect of divorced parents than my first article.
Method
Data gathered from 2000/2001 and 2004 Young-HUBRO surveys conducted on 2,391 18-19 year old male and female students living in Oslo was used to compare the data gathered from students with continuously married parents to those with divorced parents.
Results
It was found that 18-19 year old students who experienced parental divorce during childhood or adolescence were more likely to have undecided educational ambition compared to their counterparts that had continuously married parents.
Conclusion
It was concluded experiencing parental divorce during childhood or adolescence was associated with undecided educational ambition among 18-19 year old students in Oslo.
